He first found interest in music when he was ten years old. He heard the album “And Justice for All…” by Metallica and was hooked on music ever since. After years of the delusion of being a heavy metal front man, he later discovered that there was more to music than “thrashing!” He founded the idea of Beaten Path Records when he discovered the “DIY” (Do It Yourself) punk movement. This movement, started in the mid to late eighties, was a way to get around the corrupt ways of the music industry. The music industry has taken the fun out of music and made the art about fashion, false images, and worst of all capitalism. The DIY method made it possible again for artist to enjoy music without being exploited by corporate Nazis. And with the internet and cheap music recording programs, the DIY method has been taken to a new level. Now people can create albums, art, promote shows, and most of all give quality music to a mass audience without having to give up any artistic freedom and with low cost to the artists and the fans. “I’ve always wanted to create music and share it with the world. After being in bands that went no where and jamming with my closest friends and family for years and having nothing to show for it, I decided that it was time to take our music and present in a proper manner. Beaten Path Records is a positive way to express our music without sacrificing our music or our lives. Music is immortal and should never be bought or sold. My music is priceless.” -Phillip Malloy |
